Constructive Criticism
Spelling on the search Database(misspelled: "computer langauges, Computer classe for nonmajors" and other pages. Wouldn't do search for some data such as"Computer aid engineering". The "select option name" didn't match with query result.
Could have tested the java script more.
Too many graphics floating in Home and other pages. It slows down the page a little alot.
Would make search more prominent feature.
Aesthetically pleasing. the site search (the one w/o the drop-down box)is difficult to understand. i input 'doctors' and it returned two links. i clicked on the links and it didn't return anything regarding doctors.
Make site aware of old browser types using the browser capability component. Beware the javascript.

Depending on some computer, with all the graphic, it might take long to upload the site. Maybe don't add an image on every site would let other people load up to the site much faster.

Letters on nav bar disappear into whiteness. Text on homepage kind of psychologically goes off into nowhere - could be more compact.

Overall a very clean and professional looking web. You handled all of the general concepts well -- just remember that in a professional situation, the "devil is in the details"! See below. Your ASP pages worked well and showed a good understanding of the basics of the technology. Obviously, you would want to have much more security built into these pages -- probably using a combination of coding and server-side security.

• You need to be VERY careful when using graphics -- FrontPage98 estimated it would take 55 seconds to open your home page on a 28.8 bps connection, and it was pretty painful on my 46kbs bps connection at home. Your graphics should be smaller and more optimized for a final professional product since a major portion of the target audience will NOT have T-1 connectivity. Use the time estimator in the lower right of FrontPage Editor as a reality check on your page length.
• I was not able to test your javascript on several different browsers, but a professionally designed site should handle ALL browsers gracefully. Your navigation bar is very heavy both in graphics and client-side code. You should consider whether you could get similar effects using CSS and provide "dumber" pages for older browsers, especially since people using older browsers also typically have slower Internet connections.
• Your search/sitemap link should be included in your navigation bar rather than only on the bottom of the page. With the site index being very short and focussed, I liked the combination of the search and index on the same page.
  No default background color set on at least some of the pages. Some of your users would receive ugly gray pages, which would be highly inconsistent with your look and feel.
• Too large of a text block on Appointments page to be centered -- large blocks of centered text is hard to read.
  Many of the META description tags were really META keyword tags. META Description tags should be full sentences since they are used at the abstract by many search engines.
• Page Titles should have most unique information first -- i.e., "Site Disclaimer - SGH, Sacramento General Hospital" instead of "SGH, Sacramento General Hospital, Site Disclaimer".
• Both the "Appointment" and "New member" pages should suggest appropriate links to somewhere when you have completed the form.
• In your project proposal, you could have spent more effort defining the target audiences and their goals. In a professional situation, you want to be thorough here to ensure you and the client actually are working under the same assumptions.
